High School Plans Near Completion

Celeste ISD received a 65% set of construction documents\plans on April 18, 2008. Currently, final changes and reviews are being considered and evaluated by all parties. The district expects delivery of a 95% complete set of documents by April 29, 2008 and a 100% set of plans by May 14, 2008. At this time, our construction manager, Steele Freeman will bid the project and deliver a Guarantee Max Price for the new high school approximately by July 1, 2008. If the board approves the GMP, construction could begin by August 1, with a delivery date approximately 10 months later….good planning will pay dividends in the end.

Geotechical Survey Scheduled

The district has hired Alpha Testing, Inc. to conduct a Geotechnical Exploration of the new high school construction site. This survey will include an evaluation of subsurface soil, rock and groundwater conditions with boring examinations up to 25 feet in depth. This information will be used in the design of the school’s foundation. In addition, Alpha Testing will be on site during the construction of the foundation, examining every load of concrete to determined quality and strength.

Work continues on the construction documents and scheduled for completion in approximately 4 weeks. Once these plans are completed, the project will go out to bid in late May or early June. Construction should start sometime in July or early August. May of 2009 is our targeted completion date.

Interior Renderings

Interior renderings give a detailed look. The staff continues to define the interior spaces using these 3 D computer generated renderings. These renderings give the viewer an actual look into a particular space. This enables the teachers and staff to make decisions concerning the layout of the spaces including projector drops, marker\smart boards, storage, shelving, desk and computer spaces, counter space…etc. I have posted several of these pictures below.

Developmental Design

Progress continues!! The board approved the developmental design phase of the new school. The design team and staff will continue work collaboratively in developing the final plans. Once plans are finalized, the construction document phase will begin. In this step, the architects develop written documentation for each phase of the school construction. This process will take at least two months. Below I have added the latest plans and renderings.

Cafeteria stage options

The CISD board of trustees held a workshop on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. The board reviewed the continued progress of the design developmental phase. This post includes some possible designs for adding a raised stage in the dining area of the cafeteria. These options can be viewed below. I hope to have new complete plans by the middle of next week posted to the blog.

Schematic Design Concept

Everyone is so excited about the construction of the new high school. This blog has been created to keep students, parents and community members up-to-date on the progress. I will do my best to provide at least weekly updates and post all drawings as soon as possible. I seek and value all input.
